Increase your crop performance with a smart feedback loop!

If you’ve ever tried to grow anything, you’ll know that it’s really not that straightforward. I’m notorious for being ‘the serial plant killer’ amongstrip plant my friends after been trusted to look after their plants whilst on holiday, and having to repeatedly, upon their return, announce their plant is all well and good….in plant heaven! With my own plants occupying half of plant heaven (R.I.P little ones, I tried), I just couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong!

Your plant died too? You are not alone!

My comfort is knowing that I’m not alone in this; you’d be surprised how many people get frustrated looking after their plants and end up neglecting them. You can easily forget that your plant is a real living creature and that, just like a growing baby, it requires lots of time and knowledge to make sure that it has everything it needs to grow to its full potential.

Different needs at different stages (duh!)

Like with a baby, the growth cycle of your plant is dynamic and it also requires the right stimulation at at different stages of development.

Knowing how many of us struggle with gardening and immediately let it take a backseat in our lives when we get busy, we felt we needed to find a way to make our system as easy as possible to take away the complexity of gardening,  yet advanced enough to respond to the dynamism needed.

We asked, how can we make the growing process a no-brainer with the option of putting it on autopilot when needed yet still turn the whole process in a fun and interactive experience?

We created Niwa as the answer and made it smart –  it can combine automated processes with dynamic feedback from the you as the user to create a perfect environment for your plant.

First responsive growing system for maximum performance

As we’ve mentioned before, your plant will need different conditions to be in place during the different stages of growth. We have 8 different stages and variables like temperature, humidity and light will be all adjusting according to the stage.

stages

We know from the research available when the plant should more or less enter each stage. Again, you can compare it to a baby’s development cycle, though there’s of course a lot more flexibility to it. To help determine more accurately at which stage the plant is at, the niwa app will ask you a number of questions and based on the answers automatically adjust the settings to what it thinks your plant requires.

Answer the question, niwa will do the work!

For example, to determine whether your plant has entered the fruition stage, Niwa will ask you ‘do you see gree parts appearing?’. If ‘yes’ is the answer, then it will know the plant has entered a new stage and it will have to adjust the light exposure or temperature for example. Each stage is matched up with a number of different tasks assigned which Niwa will work through and manage. It will let you know what it is doing and ask you for feedback or to carry out a task (one you need to be human for) on its behalf, to ensure your plant has everything it needs to get flourish during this stage.

With this feedback loop in place, we can achieve much higher performance in terms of speed of growth and the quality of the crop by giving your plants really all that they need, whenever they need it. As with a little growing baby, Niwa will make sure that it’s the healthiest, the most loved and taken care of but without all usual hard work and hassle.
